HA3002 Corgi   F-111C Aardvark (Pig) - 6 Sqn, 82 Wing, A8-127, RAAF (2,350) £
      Out of stock

Magnificent model of the General Dynamics F-111C Aardvark in the livery aircraft A8-127 (Nicknamed "Pig")of 6 Sqn, 82 Wing, Royal Australian Air Force. Production run of 2,350 models, of which only a few were imported to the UK.

Aircraft s/n A8-127 (formerly USAF 67-0127) was delivered to the RAAF on June 1, 1973 by the crew of Squadron Leader Ian Westmore and Flight Lieutenant John Bushell. The F-111C basically is an F-111A with strengthened landing gear and the longer wings of the F-111B and was the export version for the RAAF. The F-111 “Aardvark” entered service in 1967 as a medium-range aircraft designed for interdiction and tactical strikes. It was used as an all-weather attack aircraft capable of low-level penetration of enemy territory. It also could be used for reconnaissance and electronic warfare. The aircraft features variable geometry wings, with the 2 crew members sitting side by side in an escape capsule, an internal weapons bay, terrain following radar and afterburning turbofans. The USAF retired their last F-111 in 1998 and the RAAF have now also retired theirs. This 1/72 scale model is superb, with intricate detail such as folding wings and optional canopy and undercarriage positions plus full weapon load and stand.
